We are proud to offer our brides and their wedding party, in-house alterations.
We are proud to have Luz Velasquez of High-End Alterations, on-site at our boutique to help with all your alterations needs.
On the second floor of our boutique is Luz’ studio. No need to worry about finding a seamstress you can trust, or having to take your dress elsewhere, we have the perfect woman for the job right above us. Luz has been altering wedding dresses, prom/formalwear and mens suits and tuxedos for over 30 years. She pays incredible attention to detail and works very hard to provide the best alterations experience possible for you. She is one of the best in the business and comes very highly rated. Luz is independent of us at Evangeline Bridal, but the majority of our brides choose her as their seamstress.
Q: What type of clients do you serve?
A: She serves all brides, bridesmaids, mothers of the bride/groom, grooms, and groomsmen. She even serves debutants, prom girls and boys, and pageant contestants.
Q: What should I bring to my initial fitting?
A: If you are a bride, the two most important things to bring are your dress and the shoes you will be wearing on the day of your wedding! Other mentionable items are any special undergarments/shapewear you want to wear, trinkets/jewelry you’d like to wear, or be sewn into/onto your dress. Most dresses allow for breast cups to be built in, so there is no need to buy a special bra unless Luz suggests it after your first fitting.
Q: How long in advance should I book my appointment?
A: That all depends as everyones situation is different. The standard answer to that is, 2-4 months before your event you should be well on your way to having your dress completed. However, there are variables - If your weight fluctuates for any reason; hormones, thyroid, pregnancy, etc. we will need to fit you closer to your event date. If you are a planner and can't sleep until your checklist is done, then we can alter your dress as early as you would like. We do recommend that you schedule a final adjustment fitting close to your event date if you go the early route. Regardless of when you want your alterations completed, you should always book early.
Q: How much should I expect to pay in alterations?
A: This one is tough to answer because every single dress and individual is unique to the pair. e.g. If you purchased/bring in an already well-fitting, simple, single or double-layer dress then your alterations fee will be nominal. Another e.g. would be that if you bring in a dress that is big on you that has a lot of lace, a lot of beading, and multiple layers that need to be hemmed, you can expect your alteration fee to be quite high. All in all, we tell our brides to expect a quote anywhere from $200 to $1,000 - although it can still be less or more.
