We are proud to offer our brides and their wedding party, in-house alterations.
We offer alteration services in right her in our bridal boutique so that you can focus on how happy your dress makes you and how well it fits! No need to worry about finding a seamstress you can trust or driving all over town to find one, we have the perfect woman for the job right here!
Our wonderful seamstress, Luz, has been altering men and women’s formal wear for close to 30 years. She pays incredible attention to detail and works very hard to provide the best experience for you.
We can also alter dresses purchased from other boutiques, bridesmaid’s dresses, mother of the bride/groom dresses and all men’s formal wear so the whole wedding party is covered!
Q: What type of clients do you serve?
A: We serve all brides, whether you purchased your gown with us or not! We also happily serve all bridesmaids, mothers of the bride/groom and all the men in your party. If we have the availability, we will also take in prom and homecoming gowns.
Q: What should I bring to my initial fitting?
A: The MOST important thing to bring to your fitting are the shoes you plan on wearing, and of course your dress. Other mentionable items that are optional include, but are not limited to, any special undergarments you’d like to wear, shape wear and any special trinkets/jewelry/etc you would like sewn in/incorporated into your gown somehow. Most dresses allow us to build in breast cups, but feel free to bring a strapless bra if you wish, although it is not necessary for your first fitting.
Q: How long in advance should I book my appointment?
A: That all depends as everyones situation is different. The standard answer to that is, 2-4 months before your event you should be well on your way to having your dress completed. However, there are variables - If your weight fluctuates for any reason; hormones, thyroid, pregnancy, etc. we will need to fit you closer to your event date. If you are a planner and can't sleep until your checklist is done, then we can alter your dress as early as you would like. We do recommend that you schedule a final adjustment fitting close to your event date if you go the early route. Regardless of when you want your alterations completed, you should always book early.
Q: How much should I expect to pay in alterations?
A: This one is tough to answer because every single dress and individual is unique to the pair. e.g. If you purchased/bring in an already well-fitting, simple, single or double-layer dress then your alterations fee will be nominal. Another e.g. would be that if you bring in a dress that is big on you that has a lot of lace, a lot of beading, and multiple layers that need to be hemmed, you can expect your alteration fee to be quite high. All in all, we tell our brides to expect a quote anywhere from $200 to $1,000 - although it can still be less or more.
Q: What are your payment policies?
A: Your initial fitting is always free. If our seamstress pins your dress and completes your initial fitting, and you decide that you would like to take your dress elsewhere for alterations, we charge a $50 pinning fee. If you decide to use our in-house seamstress, Luz, for your alterations we will need to take a deposit before alterations can begin. Deposits typically range between $100 - $300, depending on your total quote and how much work your dress needs. We request that you make a payment (amount of your choice) at each succeeding fitting, but note that the final balance is due before the dress can leave our store.
Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: We do! If you purchase your dress with us at Evangeline Bridal, you will receive 15% off your alterations fee. We also offer group discounts: if you bring in 5+ people in your wedding party (you plus 4), you will all receive 10% off your alterations fee! This can include the bride, any bridesmaids, mother of the bride/groom, any groomsmen, and father of the bride/groom.
Q: Why should we choose you?
A: We trust our seamstress, Luz, implicitly. She is absolutely phenomenal and her attention to detail is like no other. We have watched her spend 30+ hours custom making a veil because she wanted it just right. We have watched her fix things that a bride didn’t even notice and/or was okay with, but Luz wanted the dress absolutely perfect for the bride. We’ve watched her tell brides no when she was unsure of how to do something over taking the sale and hoping she could just “figure it out”. Simply put: we love her and we know you will, too!
