Say yes to the perfect bridal fitting experience!

Picture it. There’s a glass of champagne in your hand. Your chosen family members and friends are fawning over you. You’re on a high looking down at your gorgeous engagement ring and picturing your perfect day.

It all starts with your wedding dress. Your wedding dress fitting should be the experience of a lifetime. With fizzy bubbles and your loved ones by your side, you’ll feel like a princess when you try on your dream dress in our luxurious fitting room.

What should you expect at your first bridal appointment? Let’s break it down so you’re ready to say yes to the dress!

What to Expect at Your Bridal Fitting

When you arrive for your appointment, you’ll be greeted by our lovely staff. We’ll ask about your wedding vision and what style of dress you’re looking for.

You’ll then have the opportunity to browse our wide selection of dresses in our showroom. Overwhelm is not welcomed here. Our expert stylists will help you to pick out the perfect options for what you envision. Once you’ve found a few that you like, we’ll help you to fit them so you can get a feel for how they look and feel against your skin. You’ll want to make sure it’s a dress that you’ll feel comfortable wearing for long hours, sitting, and dancing.

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible during your fitting, so we recommend wearing a strapless bra and Spanx (or similar body-shaping underwear). This will help you to get the most accurate idea of how your dress will look on your wedding day.

Once you’ve tried on your favorite dresses, we’ll ask for your feedback to help narrow down the selection. We might make adjustments to a particular dress to make it more comfortable or flattering for you.

Finally, when you find “the one,” we’ll take precise measurements and order any customizations that you need. And in just a few short weeks, your dream gown will be ready!

It’s not unusual to say yes to the dress at your first bridal fitting. Come prepared and excited to see some beautiful wedding gowns. We can’t wait to help you find yours!

How to Prepare for Your First Wedding Dress Fitting

When it comes to preparing for your first wedding dress fitting, there are a few things you can do to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible.

1. Consider Your Underwear

We gave some suggestions above about the type of underwear. Bear in mind that you will be helped into the dresses by our stylists so you’ll probably want to wear underwear you won’t mind being seen in. Feel free to come with a few options on hand such as strapless and those that will fit in a halter style dress. It will give you the best interpretation of how the dress will look and feel on the big day.

2. Come With Notes and Photos

Be prepared with any notes or photos that might help our stylists understand your vision for the perfect dress. This can include details about the style, color, and fabric preferences that are important to you. We want to help you snag that perfect wedding dress and your preparation will help us nail it on the first instance.

3. Choose Your Company Carefully

Bring your decision-makers with you! It’s quite likely that you will fall in love the first time you try on wedding dresses so bring those who will help you choose. This can include your best friend, mom, sister, or maid of honor.

4. Have Fun

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience so enjoy every minute of it! Finding the perfect wedding dress is a fun bride event so don’t stress about it. Go in excited and get ready to say yes to the dress!

Tips to Make Your Bridal Appointment Memorable

Here are some ways you can make your bridal appointment one for the books.

When to Schedule

It’s a good idea to schedule your wedding dress fitting 9-12 months in advance. It can take up to 6 months for designers to create or alter your dress and return it to the boutique.

You also want to be prepared for shipping delays and unforeseen circumstances.

Don’t Stress Sizes

Bridal boutiques aim to offer a wide variety of styles so all styles may not be stocked with all sizes. Your dress will be altered to fit you perfectly so don’t worry if the one you try on isn’t quite your size. We will fit it to you like a glove at your fitting so you can see exactly how it will look on your big day.

Know Your Budget

Before you go in for your fitting, make sure you have a clear idea of how much you can afford to spend on your wedding dress. This will help prevent any unwelcome surprises and keep the process stress-free. It would be heartbreaking to fall in love with a dress you simply cannot afford.

Keep Makeup to a Minumum

It’s a good idea to not wear much makeup, spray tans, or glittered body lotions when you go to choose a wedding dress. Keep things simple so the dress takes center stage. Once the dress is chosen, you can design hair and makeup around it.

Your bridal boutique should make it the absolute most fun to try on wedding dresses. You will feel beautiful and confident in your choice after your wedding dress fitting when you go with the right boutique.

Hi, I'm Candice!

I’m a Native Houstonian, a mom, a firefighter wife, and the owner of Evangeline Bridal. I’m slightly obsessed with all things French, and it certainly shows in the boutique. I love the charm of downtown Tomball and the community that encompasses it, and I believe our spot on Main Street is a perfect one. When you visit us, look for the “Bonjour, Tomball” mural on the side of our building.
